Chocolate Drops {they're like Jam Drops, only without the jam}

 Well, the title is sort of self-explanatory. Over the holidays, I basically sat on my computer (don't worry, I didn't break it), went camping for a week and it was cold, and made these cookies. Well, I did make some fudge, but I've already put that in this blog.
Anyway, these are sort of like jam drops (also known as jammy dodgers--I especially prefer to call them jammy dodgers just because that's what Matt Smith says in Dr Who. I like Dr Who); only they're not really like jam drops because they are made of chocolate and they're really yummy. If I do say so myself.

I shall stop talking now, because it's late, and just type the recipe. Have fun! :)

Chocolate Drops:
250g of butter
1 tsp of vanilla essence
1 cup of icing sugar
1 3/4 cup of plain flour
1/4 cup of cocoa

60-70g of chocolate, melted with a little butter

  1. Preheat oven to 180C. Line two baking trays with baking paper.
  2. Beat the butter (which should be very soft--almost (emphasis on almost) melted. But not quite) and the vanilla until creamy. Add the icing sugar and continue to beat until pale. Stir in the sifted flour and cocoa and mix to combine.
  3. Roll 2-teaspoon-fuls (bad grammar, I know; I also just used a round half-tablespoon, because that was easier) into balls and place on the baking trays. Press the centre of each piece of dough with your thumb, bake for 12 minutes.
  4. Meanwhile, melt the chocolate and butter in a bowl over a saucepan of simmering water (or in the microwave--but be careful, it can burn REALLY easily). While the biscuits are still hot, drop a little of the chocolate into each indent. Cool on wire racks
And that's all; they're so easy :)

Uncooked, as of yet. But getting there ;)

Chocolate...
No chocolate...

Chocolate... :)
